I recently got an SB3 and really enjoy it.  I keep reading how great a fully modded SB3 is.  Is there any advantage to getting the full mods if I plan on using only the analog outputs?  It's probably a dumb question, but I don't understand the science to all of this stuff (but I'm beginning to become fascinated by all of it).  Any help for a newbie is appreciated.

I have a system that includes a stock SB3 and an Ultimate MK II PS, no DAC in the system.  I asked Wayne the same question and his reply was that the mod he would suggest for the best bang for the buck would be the analog only mod with Sonicap Platinum bypass caps.

I should rephrase my question. What I'm trying to understand is why anyone would get the full mods?  Is it to have the option to use either (or both?) the upgraded analog outputs or the upgraded digital outputs?  Or is there a sound quality improvement with the full mods that is better than either the analog or digital mods individually? As I said, I'm just trying to understand.

I think that's precisely why folks do it.  It's why I did it. 

Even after having lived w/ the analog outs connected directly to my amps for over a year, I occasionally got the itch to see if the latest 'hot ticket' DAC would give me something I didn't know I was missing.  Nothing I tried bettered what I was hearing, but it was nice to know it wasn't because the digital section hadn't been modified.

Wayne may have a better answer from a technical perspective, but that's my take.
