Oh boy, where to begin? This movie aims for the heart with all the appeal of having fast food on a first date. The story is weak and the script is weaker. Sandler proves he has potential beyond comedy and has a few interesting moments but most of the characters fall flat like a dull axe on dirt. Overall Reign Over Me is a sentimental disjointed contrived hackneyed film that attempts to be profound by drama and pander by means of comedy. It might have worked if it stuck to one genre or the other.
