Making a bottom plate for the PR slot for a Larger
« on: 19 Jan 2007, 01:36 pm »
Any ideas on what "wood" (i.e., particle board?) to use and what thickness to use for the bottom of a slot for a Larger?  I purchased two used Largers, one of which does not have a bottom (and I think is miswired, but that's another story).  Thanks.

I think it's just 1/2" MDF.  You can probably cut one to size and paint it black.  While you have the slot open, stand it on it's side and play around with it.  You will get some interesting result.  You may even like it.

Easy enough to check for "miswiring" with the 9volt battery test.

Make sure that you do both subs on the "exact" same battery terminals and observe both (actually ALL woofers) moving in the same direction.

Careful not to "hold" the connection.  Just a touch to see the direction the woofs move, is fine.

I may have to try this as well, but I must say the passives firing into the wall has tamed some room interactions for me.
