As a full time grad student, my budget for buying new gear is non-existent. Therefore, the only way I have to finance new audio acquisitions is to sell gear I own. At this point, the highest "street" value piece I own is my Sony SCD-1. I got a great deal on it, and have been happy with how it sounds--especially on SACDs. However, I only own about a dozen SACDs, and since I don't anticipate ever owning many more (just not enough of a selection out there in the music I like) it strikes me that I am not utilizing the player's real strength. As such, perhaps it's worth exploring other options.
So, my main question is whether anyone out there has found a Redbook-only player in the ~$1000 (new or used) that sounds as good as or, ideally, better than the SCD-1?
