i am new to hi/mid-fi, and i have put together a little system and i amlooking for a tuner. i had a local dealer say the could get me a marantz st-17 for $300 in a couple of days. that was 2 months ago. now when i call him he says the tuner is in san diego in dry dock due to some issue in europe... yeah, right.

he said he will sell me a rotel rt-961 at the same price, but i thought the marantz was a much better deal and a better tuner.

any thoughts on either of those tuners, or other suggestions for tuners in the $300 range?
