I have never had a guy come over and rag on my system but I have had lots of people come over "to audition" a component I was selling and never heard from them again.  Lots of people just want a free listen to your gear and don't care to actually buy what you have to sell.  I stopped doing auditions unless the guy was a priori ready to buy the component and was just coming to hear it before giving you the cash.

This sort of behavior really irks me and I have stopped being polite when I see it.

Goes to show what a little talking on the phone before meeting will flush out!

Forgot to ask...did he smoke a pipe while lecturing you on audio? And did he wear sandals with socks?

hi guys,

i received a phone call from another prospective buyer who is interested in the pt dac.  i've learnt my lesson this time i'm going to his house for him to listen to the dac in his system.

he has a 12 year old top of the line denon cdp and wants to upgrade the sound of his cd's.  who knows i may be able to sell the dac in perth after all.

regards

hi guys,

i thought i'd let you know that the pt dac is sold.  the guy got a bargain.

his speakers are designed and built by war audio just like mine.

the speaker had the following drivers.

raven 1 tweeter
2 x 3.5 inch accuton mid drivers
2 x 8 inch cabasse bass drivers
in a 5'5" jarrah cabinet
this is per speaker box.
also the cabinets had $2000au worth of blackhole 5 in them.
can you imagine how much they must have cost.  he bought them second hand for $5000au.

they were exceptional.  much better than my speakers.

he also was using supratek pre and power amps.  very nice sounding, but best of all they were drop dead gorgeous.  the best tube gear i've heard.

i did confirm one thing that my rude customer indicated to me.  i heard the pt dac thru optical and digital cables yesterday, my pioneer can only accept optical.  with the pt dac going via digital cable i could easily hear an improvement.

anyone know if i can mod my pioneer pds 507 to take a digital out cable?

thanks

Glad it worked out and that you got to see his system!
