I have a feeling this thread will end up in the fight club, but i'll offer my opinion anyway.
I've never compared line arrays by the two designers but i am familiar with both of their work --i've heard a couple of Danny's designs and own one of Rick's. Both are excellent designers and you won't go wrong with either. That said (and here's why the thread will probably degenerate rapidly), the drivers used in Rick's designs are better. Just look at the tests done over at
Zaphaudio. Compare the distortion tests, spectral decays, and agreement of the Thiele/Small parameters with published specs for the Seas W18EX (Alexandrite), Dayton RS180 (RS8) and M-165 (LS-6/9). Despite the better performance of the seas and dayton drivers, Danny's design does have two distinct advantages: lower crossover to the tweeter and more low end extension. The first can make a big difference. As for the second, i'd rather hand off the low end to a driver intended for that purpose than pushing a 6-7" to reproduce 20 Hz.
By the way, a thread like this probably shouldn't be in a circle that markets one of the products.
