GREETINGS ! new to the AudioCircle . . .
« on: 20 Dec 2006, 03:18 am »
Wasn't sure where to make my *official* first post - it was a toss up between the "Open Baffle" Circle, and the "Vintage" Circle since those are my two biggest areas of focus currently.  Kinda makes sense, since (note my handle) when I bring new toys home they're invariablely vintage, tube, and the console speakers sound REALY sweet on OB more often than not . . .

My ever-growing collection has lots of Kloss Speakers (Advent, KLH), Magnavox, RCA, and Zenith tube era stuff, and waaaaaaaaaaay too many Turntables.  Check out my Gallery to get a good idea of what my favorites are - page 43 - I think I'm the most recent.  Pictures say more than I ever could -which also makes sense, since I'm a photographer  8)

I'm on a couple other forums (Audiokarma, DIYaudio) and look forward to contributing to AudioCircle and expanding my knowledge.

My most recent project involves OB line arrays using all vintage KLH 4.5 fullrange drivers; still hashing out the crossover, but these little drivers (found in the 14's, 19's, table radios, and used as mids in the Model 5) REALLY sing when you set them free!  No low end (no surprise - OB) but I have some beat up KLH model 6's to fill in the lowend, and a radioshack dual radial horn tweeter for the top end.

Future plans involve a tweeter line array (ribbon, parts express .25 Onkyos, or Magnavox 4X10 horns - yes - I'm crazy),  OB woofer line array (15" magnavox - got 4 pairs - might grab a couple more) and tri-amping using all tubes.  I will try and integrate a pair of my Magnavox 150XX Bi-amp 6V6 amps, since they have a built in crossover right around 1500 Hz where the little Fullrangers start their comb-filtering . .  .
