New Kaki King

I just now saw she has a new CD out- I haven't heard any of it but she sings and plays lap steel on this one, so it should be a departure from her previous two albums.  Later on tonight I'm planning on ordering it. :)

Got it ordered. aa  I rarely do 'express shipping' but since I'll probably be moving in a month I don't wanna take any chances.

She also does some singing on the new one.  I like it,  :thumb: but it is a departure from her first two.  So if you were looking for some more Leo Kotke Tacoma type music this isn't it.

I really loved her first two, so the very idea of her laying down her acoustic for a steel is unnerving! :duh:  But the reviews have been positive, so I'll keep a good thought.  Sometimes it's hard to let your favorites grow and change- you always want them to stick with the stuff you know and love. :)

Your starting to sound like someone who works in the music industry   :nono:  Then again I understand and don't entirely disagree with the sentiment, maybe we're just getting old and set in our ways

I guess my concern is that the first two were really off the beaten path.  Perhaps the new one retains the originality of those first couple, but my fear was that she was trying to be a Leo Kotke.  I'd rather have an original than another copy.

Hopefully I'll be hearing it soon. :)

Well, I needn't have feared- her new album is brilliant! :o  Easily head and shoulders above her previous works, on every level.  This one really ought to win her legions of new fans.
