With dumb luck I ended up with 2 PS3 60 gig players. These not only support Blu-Ray but also SACD.  If someone can hack these and figure out how to record SACD to the hard drive, I wonder if we'd be able to play it back wirelessly via a Squeezebox or some other device like that.  Any thoughts?

BTW, Wayne's modded SB3 is fantastic. I can't believe how much music is available on the internet. I even have my Sirius running through it. Wireless Howard, mmmmmmmm!

As far as hacks I would definitely see what someone has successfully done, since you would probably void the warranty for your efforts.

I walked into a store and asked...right place, right time. Middle of the day.  Toys r Us one day and GameStop the next.  I was actually looking for a Wii for my son.

I definitely will not be doing it myself.  I'm not even sure I'm keeping one but there seems to be alot more there than just a game player.

I will probably get a PS3 eventually, especially after 1080p is more affordable.

It seems to me that the PS3 was just released too soon, since it has  limited availability, limited games, limited display availability (limited 1080p base due to expense and variety of models), and a few very frustrating bugs. The pressure to release gaming hardware is becoming as great as the pressure to release software.

On paper, the PS3 is a must-have for Home Theaters. Gaming, BlueRay player, movie downloads, and now you add SACD, all at the highest resolution available. The XBox 360 seems to better fill the niche for the current state of Home Theaters.

But I digress...what is the output for SACD? I would assume it is digital optical.

I assume it's 5.1 analog out. I don't believe there's a digital out for SACD made that's not completely proprietary.  The PS3 has a built in 60 GB hard drive that may or may not be able to record music of the Blu-Ray player.  I haven't opened either box yet.
