VPP-1

I wasn't sure where to put this so I thought I  would start a new thread.
I have been thinking about changing my phono preamp for a few months now and have done a lot of reading from every end of the phono preamp world from things which were affordable to so expensive "I hope they threw in a house with that".  IMHO, phono preamps, like cartridges, are subjective to "taste" of the user and I sure for every positive review you can find one that is negative.  This being said, I was looking at a few but decided on the VPP1.  My current (not any more  :) ) phono preamp was the NAD PP-2 and although this is good preamp, especially for the money, I was blown away by the difference.

I figured when it arrived today I would some a/b testing on familiar albums in my collection for a few days.  Being a little kid at heart, I was listening to vinyl earlier today to get my ears tuned.  :)  When the VPP-1 arrived I plugged it in without doing any "refresher listening" with my old phono preamp.  From the first note I was thrown back.  It was louder for one thing but not the reason it threw me back.  The total sound presentation, the depth of sound stage, the highs so clean and the bass was so much more defined I have lower the crossover in my sub! It is like a whole new vinyl system.  Well I listened to various albums of complexity of musical content for three hours!!!!

I have said this before, there are some vinyl albums that just blow away CDs and I do I have a good system and believe me vinyl can be truly amazing. :o

This is the best purchase and overall change in a long time.  I am sure there will be more tomorrow of listening and shaking my head.

The only downside to this, and I told Dusty he was a bastard for it,  was now I hear it all and I will have to either make (DIY) a record cleaning machine or break the piggie bank and buy one.  You can really tell how clean or not the album is!!

Dusty thanks again for another great product!!!!!

We're also a VPI dealer, so let me know when you're ready for that record cleaning machine  :)
