it sounds better at night

you live in a quiet street.  you hear two people talking on the street and there are no cars or the sound of
anything during the day.  it is night and two people are talking on the street.  why do you hear more clearly
at night?  you live on a farm miles and miles from anybody. do you hear better at night?

Hey!

Interesting..... You might want to try to observe this during the full moon also... the sound could be even clearer!

Kidding aside. If you are talking about sound in general and not the AC power thing. Yes, I do believe that you hear better at night due to less distraction. And maybe due to darker/darkness surrounding the sense of hearing become more active/sensitive. It is just our primal instinct I would say. :D

Than again maybe full moon will have some effect too

Take care,

A couple of db drop in noisefloor goes a long way. If you were to measure the decibel level during the day versus nightime you would probably see at least a couple of db drop. Sounds can travel long distances. Less traffic even though it might be far away is still less noise that can make it's way to you.

Cheers

to me it sounds better at night in the home or out.  at night there is less noise so we hear better. but during
the day when it is silent and I cannot hear somebody talking or playing music from a block away the night
sounds better than the day. and when somebody across  the street plays music during the night you
hear it better.  those of you that live in a remote place is there any difference between night and day?
