Hey Dave.

We don't care what the room looks like.  All we need is a place to stand/sit and some good tunes to listen to.   :thumb:

Gimme a shout when you get the amp and we'll figure out a time for me to come over and take a look at the room.

Bryan is right, Dave.
We don't care, as long as you are still paying the power bills.  8)

Honest-to-gosh, you hear sometimes, and I'll repeat, "It's not the destination, its the journey" and I think I have more fun listening to a system grow, than if I had been uber-rich and just plunked down $$ and had whatever it is I'm gonna eventually be happy with.  Kinda like watching a garden grow...
Your listening to your Onkyo thru the Saphire's gives you a notion of that.  That nice jittery flow of endorphins when you think about how it is GONNA get better! (and better, and better....)
You got a great start going on!

Looking forward to a listen, eventually.

No need to make the room pretty, Brian will cover up the ugly spots with absorption panels anyway!

The setup sounds great to me; much more refined and musical than what I had previously.  I'll be in heaven after the design and implementation of the home theater is complete.

The power bills are currently paid up to date. My place is pretty much free for you guys whenever.  Maybe not next Thursday (Turkey Day) or Friday, but other than that....  Sounds like you guys are interested in listening and I'm quite interested in your feedback or suggestions for improvement.  Just let me know....

Bryan says you guys break out the single malt scotch for the Christmas party.  I love me some single malt scotch!  I like Laphroaig among others but consider myself an equal opportunity kind of guy.  What are your favorites?  Not sure if this should be in its own thread but whatever ;)

Actually, Tyson has a 16 page Scotch journey posted in the Sports Bar. I've found that Tyson and my taste buds are pretty similar so his 'guide' has been really helpful, at least for me.

16 pages?  Oh boy, I'll have to read that.  I've never been to the Scottish Arms.  Is that the place to go for scotch here?  I really enjoy Oban as well.  It's smooth, goes down easy and a bit floral perhaps.  I'm not good at describing these things... I think it's kind of like describing speakers for me.... I can tell I like certain things better than others but it's hard for me to put into words.  How do you guys learn to do that?  I suppose I need to increase my audio vocabulary...that'd be a start.

Also love bourbon.  Toured the Jim Beam plant with my buddy who is from Louisville and got to sample some of their better spirits such as Booker's, Baker's, etc.... I'm a big fan of Booker's now; it's spicy and means business.

Another question I wanted to ask.  Are many audio enthusiasts, enthusiasts in the other senses?  Like sight; photography and art...  Taste; cooking, dining, drinking, etc...  Smell; akin to taste I suppose...  Touch; uh, not sure I want to "touch" this one... Hearing, the obvious.  Maybe it's a silly but the thought popped in my head.

When I got married (LOOOONG time ago) my wife didnt' 'get it' either.  Over the years, the systems have gotten better and she's gotten used to having a nice one to listen to.  Now, when we go somewhere else, she almost always comments to me after about the sound of their system.  Most of our common friends don't have much for a music system.

In short - she's now spoiled.  It's much easier over time to unknowingly get used to something and then hear something that isn't right - than it is to (unless you're obsessive, er, I mean an enthusiast) hear the small improvements that make it work.

She gives me very little flack.  Sure, I get the obligatory eye roll when I get something new or want to do something she doesn't quite understand, but she really doesn't give me too much of a hard time.  The Squeezebox is a perfect example.  She saw absolutely no need in it.  Then we got one and she loves it.  Probably going to get at least 1 more.

I'd say yes, in general. I do a little bit of photography in fact I think one or two of my photos of shoot I did back at the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival should to make it into Vintage Guitar Magazine. They needed some shots of Clapton and JJ Cale together which I had. A friend of mine, Dan Forte did an interview with both of them regarding their new release. I've got a few other pics that people seem to have liked and published (besides the stuff for ETM and TNT).

When it comes to cooking, one person comes to mind, Sturgus. The way Sturg cooks, I'm surprised he doesn't weigh 300lbs. I know I would.

I like to cook, I have won a couple trophies in local BBQ contests. I am also a budding photographer. I have a couple Canon 20Ds and a few lenses. My photo website is www.squarejphotos.com
Other than that I have no artistic abilities, Lord knows I can't GOLF!

JJ and Eric in concert and you got to take pictures!?!
You are killing me!
I am a huge JJ fan and I really enjoyed the new CD they have out together when I got a chance to listen to it with my brother. I really need to pick it up but I am on buying restrictions with Christmas around the corner.

Very nice...  I just got a Canon 30D and a 17-55mm f/2.8 lens.  Haven't had a lot of time to take shots yet, but here's a bunch I've taken  with the setup:  http://flickr.com/photos/digistic/.  I like to try new restaurants and cook sometimes, but then again who doesn't like food?

Oh yea, I had a press pass for the Guitar Festival a couple of years ago. If you watch the DVD of the Friday Jam, my mush is all over the big screen. I'll have to share my pics with you when you come over.

Hey, you've got a pair of D-20's? Wanna do some trading? I've been sniffing around a D-10 for a while now not wanting to invest in a 20. Tell you what, I've got a killer digital video camera I'd be willing to talk about if you are interested.

Its the Panasonic AG-DVC7

I've used it like four times and thats it. Its got loads of extras (batteries, wide angle lens, stuff like that). I've got lenses so I'd only need the body of the 20.

...and since Christmas is right around the corner, you could treat yourself to a (almost) brand new video camera aa

Scott-
Thanks for the offer but until I can afford a 1DmkII, I need both bodies for when I shoot HS Football (I shoot for IHSFW.COM). That pany looks like a nice unit. I have an older Sony DV camcorder that I picked up to make a docu on a friends band a few years ago, it is a nice camera but nothing like what you have. Needless to say, the movie never got finished as the band brokeup before I could get interviews from all the band members. My interest in movies starte to fade shortly thereafter (even though a very good friend finished in the top50 of project greenlight the following year and moved to Hollywood and now works in the "adult" entertainment industry as an editor and told me he could get me a job;) ) and I don't think I have recorded 1 hour of video since then.
If I do manage to get he 1D I will let you know and see what we can work out, I am sure you have something I would be interested in!
