front / center speakers?
« on: 8 Nov 2006, 05:09 am »
I currently have one of those home theather in a box setups and the sub went out recently.  I'm going to build one of Danny's SW-12a combos with a Rythmik Audio amp (250W@8 ohms).   The more I listen to the current speakers without the sub, the more I realize they're not going to be a good match for the SW12a. I'm mostly annoyed by the lack of midbass from the satellites (3.5" driver doesn't offer much).  I guess the original sub was crossed over pretty high to make up for this shortcoming- something I'd like to avoid with my new sub.

Anyway.. I'm on a pretty tight bugdet and would like like to replace at least the front and center speakers with something a little better.  I was wondering if the following speakers would be decent for a music/home theather setup when combined with Danny's sub/pr:

The center channel option looks decent, too.

Since I'm penny pinching, I hope it'll be okay to stick with the cambridge speakers for the L/R surrounds until I can afford to upgrade..

BTW, I have a pretty small room (12x14).

Thanks again for helping a newbie..  So much to learn!

Nate

Those speakers will be fine.  In fact....I believe Danny designed those.

Yep, those are good. Their performance greatly exceeds their price. You won't be disappointed.

Plus you can upgrade them later.....the site is currently being updated, but they have crossover upgrades for those speakers...
