NAD C 320BEE

I've been on a tight budget for over a year and I've had the itch.  I ended up wanting the little wonder ($280) + LeAmp II combo ($500), but decided at $300 the NAD C 320BEE was worth a try.  I'm also not very good in writing reviews so I'll keep it short.

Onkyo 595 - For $200 used, its not a bad HT receiver.  The direct mode clears the signal a bit more.

NAD C 320BEE - I thought that this wouldn't be a night and day.  But it was significantly better than the Onkyo.  The soundstage was much wider and the bass much tighter.  Its much more musical and involving then the ATI 1502.  But the 1502 was much more dynamic.  The NAD also has another notch in detail vs the Onkyo.  I think what amazes me about this integrated amp is about how the sound is involving and musical.  I like it much better than the IRD-100 + Acurus L11 (granted the acurus was a bottle neck) combo.

Little Wonder - NAD C 320BEE (amp section) - The little wonder opened up the soundstage another notch.  And its a little "brighter" or cleaner in the high frequencies bringout the details alittle more.  The bass is a little shy - but without having full range speakers not sure which one sounds right.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the NAD C320BEE.  I wouldn't have any reservations recommending one short of people that have large rooms or power.  Its not the best.  But people on a budget or looking for a second system, this one is easy to recommend.  (But I don't doubt that the LW + LeAmpII would be another step forward in quality).

I've been thinking about getting the NAD for my second system.  Glad to see it's living up to the hype.

BEE stands for "Bjorn Erik Evardsen" who put NAD on the map with the classic 3020 design and is back at the design helm with this model to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It is reputed to be stable with speakers loads down to 1 ohm. My 3020 turned 21 last year and has never sounded better...give or take a few http://www.angelfire.com/ca/rchau/audio.html#2">mods

Cool,

The NAD 320BEE has also gotten nice comments in audio rags - Absolute Sound and Stereophile.  Nice to know someone at AC found it works well in their system.  This sounds like a nice integrated to recommend to friends just starting out in audio, as it won't do too much damage to one's budget.

And its nice that it has pre-outs and amp-in (there's a jumper) so people can experiment with different pre-amps and amps.

I wish it had a detach power cord.  Otherwise still pretty happy with for $300 bucks.
