upgrade speakers to PMC FB1 or TB2?
« on: 22 Oct 2006, 03:18 pm »
Hi ,

I'm just curious , would a PMC FB1 or TB2 be a good  upgrade in my current system?

Amp; G&W tw-2006x  2x100 w  integrated      ( it can drive my dad''s huge B&W 801's quite welll)
Speakers: B&W dm603s3
Source : Analog modded bolder squeezebox
Cabling: Anti-cables, Anti-IC ( well it's not here yet, but getting it next week)

I like the sound I'm getting from my B&W dm603s3 's  but feel they sound better in a bigger room, my room is 4x4 Meters...      I listen to all kinds of music and use the stereo for movies to. (infocus 4805 PJ)

I like a good tight bass.

The B&W's go down to 40 hz,  the TB2's go down 40hz, but are bookshelfes,    will the bass be much weaker on those?

Thanks

Robert

PMC makes great loudspeakers.  The speakers that they sell to regular consumers are exactly the same
as they equivalent models they sell to recording studios for use in their mastering studios. They are line transmission design which is what allows them to produce much lower base than other designs with similar cabinet and speaker sizes.

I strongly suggest you go to a dealer that carries this brand and listen to them matched with appropriate upstream components.  Because they produce accurate tight sound, they tend to show up any deficiencies in any upstream components, which can be very frustrating and disillusioning for some people.
