Hi budbrew,

Over the weekend, we tried the Sig 70s with DeVore Fidelity Gibbons Super 8s and this was a great match....for both softer and louder listening levels.  John DeVore is a gentleman and clearly knows how to make a fine speaker.  I've gotten away from multiway speakers in the last few years, but the Super 8s are certainly a multiway design that sounded right to me.   8)

Best regards,

Vinnie

Hi Vinnie

Did you get to try the Hornshoppe Horn with the Sig 30 after all ? I know that Nonoise is very pleased with this combination . Having now joined the RWA owners club I will be looking for a reasonably priced single driver speaker that can be used close to the wall in a corner situation and this could fit the bill nicely.

Best wishes

Hi byron,

Yes, but I heard an old pair of the Horns with the older Fostex 108 Sigma drivers and binding posts on the top of the cabinet.  The Sig 30 drove them very well and it was a good match for sure.  The Horns seem to like to be placed close to the walls/corners, so this would be a good choice for your requirements.  I've heard that the newer Horns with the Fostex 126E driver is even better.  I think nonoise has the newer version.

Another great match in that price range would be the Omega Super 3 V2's + Sylan Stands.  These are front ported and work very well close to walls and room boundaries....lacking boom.  I wouldn't recommend the Super 3 XRS because it is rear-ported and seems to work best pulled more away from the walls.

Cheers!

Vinnie
