I have been out of the audio game for about a year now, and I am just getting my feet wet again. Hopefully some of you or maybe even Danny can help me out with this one. Long story short, we just built a new house about eight months ago. My old house had a dedicated HT with a 5.1 system of 5 matching GR AV-2's in it. Loved them! I sold the complete turn key HT with the house, and now I have to start all over constructing the new HT and deciding on the speakers to use/build. I do have a set of Alpha LS that are about 80% complete. http://www.keelercables.com/Keeler%20Theater/Alphas/index.htmJust need to do the finish, and buy the remaining components. (tweets & X-overs)

I guess my questions are;
Do you (Danny) or anyone else think I should spend the money to finish these or use the woofers for a smaller MTM speaker set?
Are the remaining parts still available?
If I finish them, is there a center channel that I can build to keep up with these bad boys?
And if I decide to use the woofers for another smaller project, are there any projects out there that someone has completed with these woofers?
Or I guess my last question, anybody want to buy the components, and finish it?  :green:
Thanks everyone,
Shawn

Raise the great zombie from the garage!!   I live one town over from Danny Richie and have heard many of his designs.  To my ear (YMMV) the Alpha LS are still the best sounding speaker that he has made.  Some of his designs have better resolution and all of the other audiophile words, but I think that until his new Line Source speakers are finished, the Alpha LS is THE speaker for me as it has the best overall sound + dynamics to my ears.

Good luck,
Chris

Finish them!  I love mine!   :thumb:

I'll warn you that you still have a bit of work ahead of you, but stick w/ it and you'll be glad you did.

BTW, what would you use to drive them?

As far as driving them, I haven,t even thought that far ahead. jonwb, what are you using on yours? I was thinking, if I finish them of course, of doing some sort of base coat/clear coat on them. Like a cobalt blue or maybe a red. I don't know, chances are I am going to finish them, it is just a matter of when.

I'd finish them out if your that far along. They are still really tough to beat.

All the parts that you need are in stock. I'll even make you a good deal on them.
