Yup, I think I screwed up my cd player a few months back. What I did was attempt to grease the tray rails with white silicone grease that had been giving out little bitty squeaks. Well, as soon as I tried to play a disk nothing happened. The disk wouldn't load and the laser head (I presume) sounded like a bird pecking. I did what I could to wipe off all traces of grease and checked out the lens and it looked clean as a whistle. Still, peck, peck, peck. I now think I may have read something a long time ago about trying to lube anything on a cdp because "stuff" happens.
Any suggestions? I want to use it as a deck for a dac.
