Songs That Mention Stereo Components
« on: 17 Aug 2006, 02:28 am »
Hello,

Just for fun does any one know any songs that specifically name any stereo components?

                                                    ZLS

P.S. I know of one that is very specific

Is it a rap song?  They always mention specific cars and other spendy man-toys :green:.

No, It is not a rap song.  It is very old school from the late 1960's.
For those of us of a certain age it is like a list of our first systems.

Sure. Donald Fagen - Kamakiriad, the Song "Springtime" -

Quote
We get a little silly
And fall into microspace
It's even better this time around
With Coltrane on the K.L.H.

(Normally I could probably think of others but I only had 3 hrs sleep last night...)

That's one, but the song I'm thinking about mentions six separate components (Twice!)

 Hello,

The answer is David Bromberg singing the Bullfrog Blues on How Late Will You Play Till Live.  He mentions twice a 1. Garrad Turntable
                                                                       2. A Pickering Cartridge.
                                                                       3. Bogen Amplifier
                                                                       4. Jensen Speakers
                                                                       5. Revox Tape Deck
                                                                       Stromberg-Carlson Tuner.
For those of us of a certain age, that is one hell of a system.

That "bring over some of your old Motown records" song mentions speakers.  Does that count?

Gotta love Emmylou.   "KSOS.......50,000 watts pure and clear".   (But I'm not sure a radio station counts as a stereo component)

" Needle And The Damage Done " - Neil Young .

It could be about a bad phonograph cartridge .    :o

When I bought my first tube amplifier a couple of years back, the first song I played on it was "Toob Amplifier" by The Presidents of the USA. Of course, they're singing about a guitar amp, not a stereo component, but I still thought it was appropriate.

"I got a brand new tube amplifier
It's large and lovely and smells just like a dream."
