Hey guys,

I am a coworker of electricbear, and he has got me involved with the Gateway Audio Society.  Just wanted to drop a note and say hi to everyone, and hope that everyone survived this most recent storm.

Thanks

Welcome aboard,
So far Scott and I are out of power. Haven't heard about anyone else yet. That was one nasty storm!

Hey Subway - welcome to the funny farm!

We got lucky and only lost power for about 30 seconds and the cable for about 5 minutes.

As hot as it is, I can't even imagine not having power.

Willkommen subway!

You should like the variety of different systems that you'll get to experience with us.

So tell us about your system. :green:

Steve, looks like we might be out of power for a while. Watching the news tonite they said some areas may be down for up to 10 days. Me, I'm typing this from the Comfort Inn  :? Its too damned hot to stay at the house. Luckily, I've got a generator so we haven't lost the freezers.

Yeah this really sucks. We all stayed with a friend in Chesterfield last night, thank God--the 5 of us, two dogs, two cats and my sister. We're going to try to stay home tonight if it cools off enough. Most of our neighborhood is empty right now so we hate to leave the house vacant for too long.

I think my surge protector on the sources got fried in the storm Wed. night so hopefully everything will still work when we do get power back. I didn't get everything unplugged in time.

Luckily we have power at work.

I currently have a system that consist of a Rotel RA1062 2 Channel integrated amplifier, Walmart special dvd/cd player, AQ cables and speakerwire, and B&W DM603S3 speakers.  I really like the overall sound of the B&W speakers.  Anyway, Steve K, I would rather have to replace my surge protector than my whole system if you know what I mean.   I look forward to hearing other's sytems so I can get plenty more knowledge of what else is out there, what people think, what they use, etc.

Have a nice day everyone

hopefully everyone will get their electricity back pretty soon.

Hiya subway,

Well, if you decide to start walking down the upgrade path, you'll have laods of gear to listen to. If nothing else, we all have a widely varying selection of equipment you can sample. Some of it is pretty common, some of it is pretty obscure. Oh, and if Tim hasn't let you know, way more than 50% of us are using tubes of some sort as our preamp and amplification (its probably closer to 80% of the active guys if we were to take a poll).

You should find hanging out and listening to our systems educational if nothing else  :green:
