Well.  The receiver is probably worth ~$75 now on the used market.

That might give you a vague idea.  Mid-fi home theater equipment from the mid to late 90s doesn't tend to retain value well.

That said, you can probably have a lot of fun with it regardless of the low value.

You have some decent power in that receiver.  Pro-logic only though, I believe.

The dvd-cd player is old as far as dvd players go.  1998/9 I think.  If it still works well, this might be one of the best finds of the group.

I probably would resell the cd changer.  Use the dvd player to play cds.

Frankly, I hope you didn't pay more than $500 for the whole lot.  That might even be generous.  You can get much more state of the art than that for $500 off agon or ebay.  Even new, $500 goes a long way toward starting a "decent" ht rig these days.  Anyway, HT / Stereo is a fun hobby.  Welcome to the madness.

Welcome to AC, Brian.  Like kfr says, put some music on and have fun with it.  If something doesn't quite float your boat look for new or used pieces and swap out.

Are you looking to have a home theater (5.1) or more of a 2 channel system?

Hi Brian Welcome.

It looks like a good starter system.

I am not sure what your movie or music preferences are or how serious you are with HT stuff.  It looks like you have a good starter system.  Just a little old 1990s stuff.  Please don't get me wrong, it should still give you pleasure.

If you are looking to getting the best of today's technology, here it goes...you may need a better receiver that can atleast decode DD 5.1 or DTS.  The kenwood kr-x1000 receiver looks like was from 1995 review.  The Kenwood dvf-9010 dvd player seems to have a built-in DD decoder which can be connected to the receiver via 5.1 analog input.  It will work so you can hear 5.1ch movies or music but it is rudementary.

Like MaxCast, if you feel like you are missing something, you can easily upgrade one component at a time.

Just my 2cents.

Congrats.
