So I was looking through Goldmund's website today and I came across an interesting quote in the technology section:

We, at Goldmund, absolutely never listen to our components before releasing them to the market. But we have a pretty good idea on how they will sound, because we do measure them…

 

Measurements are important to me when evaluating a piece of gear, but geez.  I think if I was releasing a $50,000 amplifier I would at least give it a quick run in my system.  This could be tongue-in-cheek but maybe not because apparently Goldmund outsources their design work.  Take a look:

I might be able to buy that if Goldmund wasn't Swiss.  The Swiss are so obsessive, I'd be willing to bet they listen for hundreds of hours before releasing a product to market.
