Has anyone talked to Klaus in the last week?

With all this talk on upgrading mono's....can anyone tell me how much the upgrade costs to go from from Mono Extreme's to SE (or what ever they're called). Can anyone articulate the differences and if they're worth the investment?

Oh yeah, please don't just tell me to "call Klaus". I also think highly of him, but he's obvoiusly busy and I'm busy too....just hoping someone on this thread (Lazydays?) can give me the toplines please.

I sent my mono blocs to him in person, and had them back in my hands in about a week! As for the upgrades there are several levels, and it seems like they range from a little over $500 to about $1300. When I handed them over to Klaus, I told him "to give them the full tilt boogie."
I can tell you this they came back ten pounds heavier! The reason I did it this way was because I plan on using them for a long while, and can already see that wresteling with these things are not a thing I want to do often.
I think when I gave Klaus a call about upgrading the amps I caught him at the perfect moment as he kinda had an open spot in his schedule.
I do know he's waitting on parts to come in right now, so maybe you might want discuss this with him. I do know he has several options andI also think paths of upgrades. I basicly let the designer and builder make that decsission for me as I think he knows a little bit more about these amps than I do. How do they sound? Havn't a clue as I'm still in the process of hooking them up in a temorary system.

he never made that statement with me! And I might add that when I handed over the two amps to him I had a rough idea what kind of pricing we were looking at, but also knew nothing was exact.

Thanks Lazydays. Really appreciate the info. I'll probably discuss the new tube pre with Klaus in a few months when the design is final and will likely address the amp upgrade topic at that time.

Oh, maybe I was the only one sworn to wear the Cone-Of-Silence, but I'm also referring to pricing on the Not-To-Be-Mentioned Extreme Mono versions with the upgraded parts that some owners are selling.

Shhh...

I'll tell you what, those mono extreme arc welders setting in my living room have had a steady stream of onlookers now for two days. If they sound as good as they look I foresee a lot of local deliverys for Klaus in the next year or so. Everyone commented on the fit and finish front to back! One guy said he'd have to knock out the wall to make room for a pair!

twenty four hours and I can already hear a difference. Much more bass and a smoother mid range

Klaus wanted me to keep it a secret also. I did up until I sold them. He really didn't like the fact that I advertized the upgrades when I sold them. When he says to keep them a secret, he really means it! Keep that in mind when getting the upgrades because at some point you may have to sell them and will have to decide if you want to advertize the upgrades or not.

I spoke with Klaus on Wednesday night. He had just returned from the LA show. And sadly, my system was not yet ready to ship. Oh well -- I can wait a few more days...
