What are the good sounding sub $100 DVD players?
« on: 27 Apr 2006, 07:57 pm »
Hi All,

I have a friend looking for a budget DVD player to use for CD and DVD playback in a 2-channel system. He has an Onkyo TX-902 and needs a DVD player for about $100 or less and is also looking for speakers at $350-$400 for a pair of floorstanders.

What are the good sounding sub-$100 DVD players currently available at local big-box retailers? What about via web/mail order?

Also, if you have a $350 speaker recommendation, please let me know.

Enjoy,

TIC

BTW, I do understand the "good" is a relative term. Personally, I have a Resolution Audio Opus 21 CD player that I consider good. I also have a Sony DVP-NS775V DVD/CD/SACD player that I think sounds OK. But, I wouldn't take the RA Opus 21 out of my system and replace it with the Sony, even considering the 35X price differnce.

However, for my friend, the Sony is probably perfectly adequate.

Any recommendations for sub-$100 players?

Thanks,

TIC

The Toshiba 3960 is under $100 and if you search on Audioasylum there is a lot of info.
