Got to love any of Leo's stuff.  I saw him live quite a while back (either last fall or 1 1/2 years ago) and he announced that they were going to do a followup album, but I haven't heard anything more about it.

As a longtime fan of both Kottke and Phish, I was excited to pick up the CD about a year ago. It's been one of my favorites ever since. I didn't know they were doing a follow up, that's wonderful!

One of his most popular albums is an early one, Six and Twelve String Guitar, and it's very good.  In fact, I don't think I've ever heard a clunker album from Kottke so I wouldn't be afraid to reccommend grabbing the first one you see to see if you like him.

His vocal style is an acquired taste.  He's no Caruso, but then neither is Tom Waits.

I haven't heard any of his live albums, but if they are anything like his shows (especially if the include the bizarre stories and rants of his) then I would grab those first.  If you ever get a chance to see his show, do so without fail.

Any of his albums are good, certainly including "6 and 12 String Guitar" as mentioned. If weary of his vocals, pick up the  "Instrumentals: The Capitol Years" and the one for the Chrysalis years. Wonderful stuff, and you can often find it for a decent price at record stores.

Over the weekend the local college station played a simply awesome version of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" done by these guys.  Apparently its on their second album, which I haven't heard yet.  Anyone have this album-any opinions on it?

Sweet Emotion was done in a Cowboy Junkies type style-slow and intense with your usual typical Kottke guitar as fills in the background & Leo's backing vocals mixed way down (I love his music, but Caruso he's not).

Yeah 66steps is a great album. I do not like it as much as Clone but it is still a great effort

Another update and warning-apparently 66 Steps is one of the albums Sony sold with the rootkit infection on it.  Here is the full list:

And perhaps this deserves it's own thread, but here is a link to the settlement of the rootkit litigation:

I am a huge fan of Leo and Mike. Both 'Clone' and '66 Steps' are must owns. I also love Leo's solo stuff. Mike's solo effort, 'Inside In' is very good too. I like it better than Trey's solo stuff so far.

Page's 'Vida Blue' is great too. Their self titled work is worth a listen, it's a great late night listen. 8)

I also like both of the Kottke/Gordon collaborations.  I like 66 Steps better of the 2.  BTW, thanks for the thread, it reminded me to go get my share of the settlement.
