I decided not to go the xformer route for now as I have my opamps socketed

What opamps have you tried and what value  BG cap did you use?
Thanks,
Rob

Rob:

I still have the stock opamps in their sockets, I have just been too busy to play around with them. I still have a soft spot for the older BB OPA2604 in that I think it sounds more tube-like than most other opamps. I also like the LT1364, I have a few of those laying around. Not sure what the hot opamp of choice is these days, I am more interested in what sounds musical and tubey. Some high end opamps can oscillate if the design isn's robust.

Regarding the output caps, I think the stocks are 20 Mfd. I just happened to have some 22 mfd black gates from a prior xover upgrade so I threw those in there and they sound utterly transparent. I might try some oil caps down the road though. The only problem with the Lite Audio AH dac is that there is not much room in there to play around.

too bad the audio sector dac that i consider buying was not included in the shootout but besides that the result is  interesting .

It costs money to produce all that marketing hype you saw on the website.
