Mapleshade claims that their Clearview Golden Parallel cable is ideal for very long runs due its low ICR and DCR.  It sure looks a lot like mag wire to me.   :?:

According to one response, it is 18awg.

Surely Mapleshade wire is not just magnet wire.   There must be some kind of pixy dust or voodoo applied to their Clearview Golden Parallel cables.   :shh:

Their other cables are tightly wound around each other while the CGP cables are, as the name implies, in parallel to each other.

IF CGP cables are just straight, 18awg magnet wire, AND they really are ideal for long runs, THEN couldn't I just order a spool of mag wire for $10 and have a happy pair of rear speakers in my living room.   :D

From that page:

"You may not be into stereo gear. But if you enjoy listening to music, sometimes you must wonder whether your speakers sound good enough. Startling as it may seem, you ought to be just as concerned about your audio cables. I’ve heard $2000 speakers with off-the-rack wires that sounded worse than little $100 Radio Shacks with good cables. Twenty years of striving to make perfect-sounding recordings has taught me that WIRE IS A COMPONENT JUST AS CRUCIAL AS SPEAKERS OR AMPS."

Talk about b.s.  This paragraph is all the further I got on Mapleshade's page.   After reading crap like that I would never consider buying from a such a company.

The only difference I can see Mike, is the Mapleshade is silver plated copper wire. Most magnet wire is solid core copper. Silver plated copper is probably brighter sounding and may be harder to find but I'm sure someone sells it. It's no doubt more expensive than regular magwire. Other than the silver plating, I see no magic here.

Mike

Heres a link to MWS Wire Industries. It looks as if they mfgr silver plated magnet wire.

The amount of silver on 18gau wire is pretty minimal. It might add the slightest hint of brightness but overall (I'd have to guess) its still going to sound like standard solid core magnet wire.
