In other posts on this forum I mentioned that one of my IB1 midrange speakers kacked at Xmas (dead Fred, dead). PMC sent me another (gracias) which I prompty dropped (peanut butter side down, of course) on the floor, resulting in a caved in speaker. I teased the dimple out with judiciously applied scotch tape and installed the speaker. There remains, however, an impression of where the dimple used to be, and the speaker dome is not perfectly convex (there's a circular linear impression where the speaker caved in). Will this effect the speaker's sound, and should I order another?

Oh yeah...WRT the thread title. The midrange speaker went back into my CB6 as I scavenged the CB6 midrange for the IB1 to allow me to listen to music over the Xmas holidays. 8)

Hi Doug,

I forwarded you concerns to PMC engineering the other day but they have not gotten back to me yet. My guess is that the dimple will affect the polar response just not sure as to what degree?

Hi James,

Assuming it is just the outer diaphragm which is marked, and it has not dented  the metal dome underneath, then, apart from the psychological ' I know it's there!', there shouldn't really be any audible impact.

If in doubt, have it replaced.
