I know I am a home theater guy and should be shot for even thinking about going to a theater or even asking this question, but what is the best of the best in theaters in ST Louis? My Girlfriend wants to go see a movie "out"
I don't go out to theaters normally but when I do I tend to go to the Regal at the ST Louis Mills off of 370. I am pretty happy with it but was wondering if ST Louis has any high end theaters? Not looking to go to the iMax at the science center, but other than that what would you recommend?

Thanks guys

Jamie

I think the biggest non-IMax screen in St. Louis is at the Wherenberg in Chesterfield.  They call it their 'megascreen' I believe.  The problem I sort of have with a giant screen and stadium seating is that the grain from the film print starts getting excessive.  I also notice the 'judder' or strobing from film's 24 frames per second a lot more.  Regardless it's a cool theater to see a movie in.  Check STLToday.com in the movie section for showtimes.

Yep, the Galaxy's Megascreen is the best I've been to in town. The sound system is decent (not great but decent), the seats are nice and comfy and the screen is friggin huge. I've seen a few of the blockbusters there, LOTR RTK, Star Wars III, King Kong and War of the Worlds.

The resolution is fairly decent too. Its believable enough that on some heavy action shots like the plane sequence with King Kong on top of the ESB I had to look away to get my stomach out of my throat.

I went to a theatre in Edwardsville to see the Star Wars movies.  That screan was so big that I had to lay my head back and look from far right to far left to see the whole screen.   :!:

It was friggin' loud too!!!  Man, it hurt.

Of course, all of that may have something to do with my wife and I sitting in the front row.
