Sony has released two greatest hits albums--one a CD, one a DVD of videos and two live shows.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008VXX7/qid=1103153885/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-3925175-1314553?v=glance&s=dvd

I got the DVD since I already have most of the tunes on the CD.
Has 20 + tracks total, for a running time around 120 minutes.  And it's relatively cheap.

Seems a little weird to have a "greatest hits" at this point in her career.  Did I miss something  :?

"Steady On" came out 15 years ago, and 5 studio cd's precede her greatest hits CD/DVD.  Doesn't seem too soon for me.

While the videos on the DVD were "made" for MTV/ VH1, I had only seen one of them so I was thrilled to get the DVD.

I saw her about a year or so ago at the Kimmel Center in Philly.  She opened for Richard Thompson, flying in from Texas as a last minute replacement for... whoever.  She put on one heck of a show, was extremely friendly with the crowd and a very funny storyteller to boot!!!

Shawn used to have her daughter come out to sing one of her toilet training songs, but she (her daughter) has since retired from singing to take up dance, I think

Thanks Tonto...

My BAD     I am only familiar with her two latest releases, but will now go look for her older stuff as I like both of the ones I have

"Steady On" and "Cover Girl" are both excellent and hold up over many, many playings.  Steady On is more dynamic and musically varied, and recorded extremely well.  Cover Girl is more laid back and is Shawn singing "covers" of other peoples work.  Clever title.

Moved here as this is video software discussion, not a video hardware discussion.

"Steady On" was available on vinyl BTW for those of that persuasion.

"Cover Girl" is great: I never cared for Steve Earle much, but her cover of "Someday" may be one of my favorite songs ever. Her cover of The Talking Heads' song is a choice I would never have expected ( I have to remind myself it's a Heads song every time I hear it).

How's the PQ on the disc?

I've not seen many music videos on DVD. And the one I do have is a Criterion DVD, so the picture on it is excellent.

Quality seemed fine to me. My TV, however, isn't particularly great so less-than-excellent PQ might be masked by the TV.
