Yamaha RX-V730 Receiver - both speakers buzzing
« on: 21 Feb 2006, 04:28 pm »
Hi,

Both of my Genesis Genre III speakers buzz occasionally at the same time at certain frequencies from my Yamaha RX-V730 Receiver.  Sounds like metal on a table buzzing. It happens less than 5% of the time.

I assume the speakers are ok, since the buzzing occurs exactly in both speakers at the same time.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Joe

Sure it's not your fillings?

Assuming it's not your fillings....  I would use a test disc with a frequency sweep.  It's probably a bass frequency causing the problem and if you can recreate it, then you can go about finding exactly what's causing it and fix it.

I've got a subwoofer that used to cause buzzing all around the room (different things would buzz at different frequencies).  One of the most notable ones in my 'system' were the plastic mullions on my windows. Bzzzzzz.  And a shelf hanging against the wall.  A little foam insulation tape fixed most of my problems.

Get a test disc with frequency sweeps.  I'm using the Avia Home Theater disc (about $49).

If it's actually your speakers buzzing....well, hopefully you can tighten something.  Maybe it's a speaker grill.
