Tubed line preamp questions
« on: 14 Feb 2006, 05:25 pm »
I'd like to try the tubed line preamp on my center channel and on my main R/L channels. Is it modifiable to use balanced outputs/inputs?  If I connect only one input and one output, is that a big deal?

Hi Bob,

Sadly the TLP, and the GK1, are as single ended as they get and cannot handle diff inputs without a transformer.

You basically need to double up on active components to handle the diff input stage.

Of course, this can be done with a balanced line transformer, which is a commonly used solution in the music industry.  But these are around $US100 apiece.

I'm sorry.....

Cheers
