If somebody is looking for speakers under $100 a pair, you probably can't go wrong with this:

Outpost - Polk Audio R30 Black Tower Speakers for $39.99 Each plus Shipping

Outpost finally has more of these for $39.99 each! 2 Per household limit.

I am not affiliated with Polk, Outpost.com, or dealcatcher.com - nor have I ever heard these speakers.

That is an amazing deal.  What can you get for $39.99?- Optimus speakers or something from Sears?

Yup, it seemed like such a silly good deal that I felt compelled to post here and let others know about it.

I am ordering a pair for a spare room.

That is probably cheaper than the MDF to make your own comparable cabinets!

I got a pair of these when they went on sale a year or more ago.  Good deal.

how do they sound? Would I be dissapointed if I purchased them for a small 2 ch bedroom system? I'd pair 'em with a rega planet cd player and small rotel integrated. Right now using an old pair of polk satellites waiting for a good deal to come along.

Main 2ch Rig:

GR Research Diluceo
Denon DVD-3910
Mirage BPS-400
Monolithic Sound PA-1/HC-1b
Rotel RB-1070
Sound Application CF-X

I use them in a big living room with at least 15 feet between myself and the speakers, so the sound is pleasantly diffuse.  Nothing for you to listen to critically, but more than good enough for enjoying the music.  I use it for my tv/ht.  If you're going to sit there staring between the speakers listening to music, think again.  If you're going to read or otherwise entertain yourself or keep yourself busy, why not?

Thanks George.  As many have already stated, these may not for critical listening, but for under $100 it is a good deal.

I set my friend up with a pair and some Polk R15's for a center and surrounds(they occasionally go on sale for $40+ a pair).  Total home theater speaker package costs less than $170 w/tax.  Even had an extra speaker left over.  Hard to beat for the $.

You can sometimes find both deals at your local Fry's.

Regards,
Jeff
