Hey Everyone,

Over at the AV Science forum a gentleman named Ryan set out on his own to do a case study with room treatment, setup and EQ.. I think he did a outstanding job on this.. You can check out the final results at.

He did a very good job.

I have yet to read up on Dr. Geddes' approach to room treatment but I can tell you that it wouldn't be hard to implement and was quite effective (I got a demo of his theater room).

very easy to understand.. That I think is part of the problem  with acoustics.. We get so deep into the science that we end up turning people off...

Excellent.

More people need to realize how important this is. And as you explained, it's not that complicated either. Click HERE to see another useful case study that shows the huge improvement from adding traps and other treatment. Lots of graphs and good explanations of the principles.

That person needs a helmholtz radiator with low Q centered at whatever frequency that lowest mode is.  That or a notch filter/Digital EQ.

Also, why does he have the high frequency oscillations, both in the frequency domain and the impulse response?  The impulse response particularly is suspect -- after 18 ms, he still has wild oscillations.

Also, I see that his room is 4.3x4.3, which is what's causing the massive mode at about the 30Hz mark.  I still don't understand the impulse response, though.

I actually thought the same thing..I saw a review for Real Traps but then I read it anyways..heck REAL Traps has LOADS of great free info on their site and their product seems to be proven - it was pretty good/cool...although I understood more on the link you provided...it seem to be explain in lamens terms.
