We have been testing the Brickwall power filter, and it works extremely well with NuForce amplifier.

why? what oither power conditioners didn't work well?? did you try BPT and heard any negative effects???

my BPT3 only has one 7.5 amp transformer, but I like my nuforce with BPT than direct to wall oulets...... i want to upgrade to a 15 amp version later..

also this IEC with built in EMI filter is a snap in type 10amp medical grade...

have you tried such EMI filter/IEC socket on nuforce yet??

I just add 5000uf of black gate + Elna caps on the DC power supply WIRES between power supply unit to the main curcuit board...
this got me the BEST improvement so far... this even changes/lowers the sound of turn on/off beeps!!!...(cheap elna type is warm and BG is fast and hyper...so they balanced each other out..)

changing wires was getting me nowhere... I also add WBT nextgen RCAs and I don't know if they are better... I drilled extra holes myself...

thanks a million for nuforce..

.. Love them for now... very very quiet..

oh I also add ERS papers between power supply and main circuit board..and between RCAs and speaker terminals...

Note that the Brickwall units seem to have non-current limiting surge suppression as a primary design goal. They do provide some power-line filtering, but they do not provide the common mode noise rejection that a BPT or other balanced power conditioner will offer.

That said, since I first discovered them about 2 years ago, I've read nothing but positive comments concerning Brickwall products as non-current limiting surge suppressors. They also cost a fraction of the price of a suitably large BPT, and you may not need large levels of power conditioning in the first place.

They don’t advertise it but Adcom also makes a surge protector with Series Mode technology, sans MOVs:

I have a friend in the IEEE who says he independently came up with this design years ago and employed it in one of his consulting jobs.

I'm not sure who was on first.

A little clarification of terminology. The 'Series' in those technologies, whether they be Brickwall, Adcom, Furman etc.... is an inductor, what Adcom refers to as a -

Ummm, uhhhhhh, that describes a series connected inductor.... Its also a good start (along with the usually included shunt capacitor following) at powerfiltering. Kudos to BrickWall for actually descibing it as such. This is not to say that different vendors don't have a unique and/or patententable, highly optimized circuit configurations flanking that inductor......

Why should any of this matter? In theory, one should be able to plug an amp directly into a wall socket and be happy. The good folks at Bryston and McIntosh Labs seem to think so -- and those are amongst the best-sounding, value-retaining, and utterly reliable products in audio.

So, we're to think that one surge protector over another is supposed to work better with the Nuforce? What gives?

As it turns out, a company called ZeroSurge has the patents on this process...and licensed the technology to both Brickwall and Adcom. In fact, the Brickwall units are nothing but re-badged ZeroSurge's made in their Frenchtown, NJ facility.

To boot, the ZeroSurge's are cheaper, too.

I did a lot of digging recently and found this out. They all work well - I own two Brickwall's
