James K-M, thanks for the heads-up on Abraxas--it is waaaay better than the RBCD.  Also, the SACD versions of the RBCDs I had (Wes Montgomery, etc.) are better--the highs are not as harsh, excellent detail.  Made one new discovery, Jimmy D. Lane, It's Time.  Great blues disc, fantastic SACD.

Glad you like it! I took a chance on it myself and was thrilled to hear it. Beck's Sea Change is another good one if you like his stuff. The Donovan on Audio Fidelity is excellent too. Personally, I'm not as thrilled with DSOTM or the 2 Allman Bros SACDs as others seem to be. I also have 2 JSP SACDs that are very good - Buddy Guy and Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf's guitarist). I'll look for the Jimmy D. Lane here in Canada which has less and less in the stores these days. I've been having buying holidays in Portland, Oregon lately where the selection is great and no sales tax.

Hmmmm, I was considering the Allman Bros. discs as well.  What is about them the disappoint you?

I find the Allman SACDs kind of harsh sounding and closed in. I've had them since they came out and am still hoping they will open up somehow through my recent upgrade to Extremes. Discs can sound bad in one system and great in another. But you could try the Fillmore disc first and if you like it get Eat a Peach. I find the Fillmore disc has slightly better sonics.
