If you want something only to experiment with...you can try a SI amp run off of a small 12 volt 7ah battery from batterymart.com. If you want to save on shipping charges...they used to have a store in CrestHill (but I believe they moved to Minnoka).
Aside from they quick, cheap and easy SI amp...You can also try for a used Norh SE9, an ASL wave8 or something like that. Should give you some decent highs on a budget. One of these days I've got to get me one of these little amps one of these days...but there's so many darn other things I've got to buy and build first

Not to mention my listening room has our daughters 9' X 12' inflatable jump and slide thing in it right now. Looks like I won't be doing much listening until spring time, when we could move it outside...ya gotta have priorities
