Meridian 566

I gathered from gossip in Meridian circles that Emperical do (or once did) a 566 modification.  Is this true?  How much does it cost?  How good is it in relation to other common DACs such as the Perpetual Technologies (I also already have a PT P1/P3a modwright).

Mine is a 566.20.

It's on my website, although I'm not installing USB interfaces anymore.  They are all external, except for the I2S interface.  I would do the full mod (no USB) for $500.  It is quite remarkable how it sounds, although a modded P-3A leaves it in the dust, particularly with upsampled data.

The hottest product right now is the fully EA modded P-3A (10X more mods than Modwright) with the Off-Ramp I2S driving it from the computer.  Extremely low jitter.

I also have a Meridian 566 that I was thinking of getting modded/upgraded.

I just use one source - would it still be $500 to upgrade one input?

THe digital mods are $300, so this could be reduced to $200 for one input.  The other mods are an additional $200, so $400 total should cover one input.  This would be digital, power delivery and power supply mods only, no USB interface.
