Help! Revolution 7.1 digital op crackles
« on: 22 Dec 2005, 07:52 pm »
Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up a Power Mac g4 w Revolution 7.1 card whith digital out put to my Ack! DAC and Aspen amp. The sound is generally outstanding, but I'm getting little crackles and pops that sound for all the world like a vinyl LP. Most of the time they are intermittent, but other times it can get really bad and the digital link led on the dac starts to flicker (losing lock). The DAC and cable have been working fine with the spdif out on my CDP for about a year. I waited for M-Audio tech support for half an hour yesterday and had to give up.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks,
Jy

johnny, you got to update your drivers - thats how the drivers are on the disk from memory.

Also, what player software are you using? give foobar a go if it can run on mac...

I'm using iTunes.
I read somewhere about importance of drivers, downloaded and installed an update from M-Audio. No difference. But, do I need to select or invoke the right driver somehow through software?
Not sure what you mean about "thats how the drivers are on the disk from memory."

Thanks for your help!

I had the same problem when I bought my revolution... the drivers that came with the card were responsible - once I updated from the M-Audio webpage, no more issues (using asio out and foobar2k) if I use another player - I do get crackles
