SLR T7 headphone Question?

How is the headphone section incorporated into the pre? I assume it’s tubed?

The headphone section is a very wide band high current solid state unity gain buffer that simply isolates the output of the preamp's line section from the rather low input impedance of the typical headphone set.  It does this job very very well.  This concept is used in both the Ultra and Transcendence Eight designs.

??? Does the headphone output pass through the tubes or is it entirely solid state?

Sorry Frank if I don’t quite understand. I’m trying.

The headphone amplifier is after and in series with the output of the line section.  It is driven by the tube/hybrid line section with excellent isolation from the section so that what the headphone amp is doing does not affect the line section normal audio output performance.  Again, the headphone amplifier is essentially the line tube hybrid section buffered by a very very fast high current unity gain current amplifier.

Thank you Frank, that’s what I wanted to know.

BTW: I’m very satisfied with the headphone section.  I’m currently running a Sennheiser HD-600 and have a new AKG 701 on loan which I am really liking. The headphone amp has plenty of drive.
