What cables are best for connecting stereo components?
Which cables are best for connecting speakers?

I've heard that Crystal cables are the best, but they are a bit pricey. What do you suggest for a smaller budget ?

I'm a fan of a simple DIY speaker cable using this Canare wire:

Interconnects:

Since manufacturers of more expensive cables can't offer any proof that their products will actually sound any different, or any better, I just go with decent build quality and put more money into buying CDs and equipment that always matters, like speakers.  Room treatment is next on my list.

This line of cables etc should be more than adequate for 99% of most A/V needs...save a ton of $$ too.

Over the years I have has various cables in my system ranging from entry level Acoustic Research to high end brands like Straight Wire, Wireworld etc.

Recently I have tried Belkin Silver Series and they seem to give 90% of the performance at a fraction of the cost.  In Canada a 4' interconnect pair sells for $40.  Unbelievably inexpensive for the performance they provide.

Their stated goal when they introduced AV cables was to knock Monster off of their pedestal.
