Reference Transport FS: Pioneer Elite PD-S95
« on: 3 Dec 2005, 12:48 am »

This unit is one of the best CD transports available. 40 lbs and built like a tank, with shielded copper cages around the power supply, and copper shielded PCB's. It has digital coax, toslink, and a BNC style connector (coax only though). It is in pristine cosmetic condition. I am the second owner, and have owned it for under 2 years, and purchased it from The Analog Shop in New York, who sold it for one of their employees who had originally acquired it. (The unit pictured above is identical to mine, I just can't upload actual pix. I will email pix of my unit upon request, or you can see the actual unit at http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtltran&1136216710

It was recently serviced by an Authorized Pioneer Service center. The laser assembly was replaced at this time with a BRAND NEW unit, along NEW drive belts, and a complete tune up. I also have an EXTRA NEW laser assembly to have just in case. More importantly, I have the ORIGINAL factory service manuals AND microfiches, so you can be assured that you will have all the information a tech or modder will ever need. This will be the last CD transport you will buy.

I have the original rubber platter mat, as well as the Herbie Grungebuster SP mat. I also have the transport screw, essential for shipping. I also have the original Stereophile review of this unit which I will include.

The unit reads most CDR's (though it can be finicky about certain brands of CDR). The unit does have trouble with just a few of the new "enhanced CD's" that contain computer data and a few copyright protected CD's released in recent years, which include imbedded software that can intermitently cause read errors.

DISCLOSURES: I do not have the original packaging, and cannot locate the owners manual. The remote is a Pioneer replacement, and works perfect, but is not the original remote. Otherwise, the unit is original and in MINT condition, with a thorough refurbishing by authorized Pioneer Elite techs.

I have invested over $1600 into the unit, and will let it go for $1000, shipped within the U.S 48.  It originally sold for $3000.
