Terminals on ALPS volume POT
« on: 24 Oct 2005, 12:32 am »
Hi guys,

I am in the process of upgrading the volume pot in my preamp from the one on the right to the ALPS unit on the left:

What I need to know is which terminal is which.  I've played around w/ the terminals and a DMM (and a battery) and I can't figure it out.

Here's a pic of the old pot in the preamp:

I'm thinking they'll be the same as the old one, but that seems like a risky guess.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can wire the new one exactly as the old one.

With the control shaft pointing at you and the tabs facing up, the layout is as follows.

Far left - signal input
Middle - Signal output
Far right ground.

The front row is for one channel while the back row is for the second channel. It does not matter which row you use for what channel.

 Hope this helps.
