I hope this is okay here; I know much of the discussion is in the modders' areas.

The idea of network media devices is new to me, and until recently I wouldn't have considered such a thing. This review probably has no news for people familiar with the area, but maybe the link will inspire some informed discussion....

That's an old review, there is already a squeezebox 2.  The squeezebox 2 is much better hardware.  Do a search for squuezebox on Head-Fi forums, someone from squeezebox posted internal pictures of both a squeezebox and a squeezebox 2.  Needless to say, I was impressed with the improvements of SB 2 over the original.
