Modded nOrh Le Amps SOLD
« on: 6 Jul 2005, 11:20 pm »
Here is a blast form the past!

I just pulled this pair of HEAVILY modded nOrh Le Amps out of my closet. These are part of Harmonic Discord history.

Here is the  thread in which the DAM reviewed them

I put about $400.00 worth of parts into the pair of them. EVERYTHING that could be replaced has been.

I changed the IEC connector in each amp to a Furutech Rhodium plated one and the fuse holder to an Acme Audio Silver plated model.

I left the internal AC wiring and the transformer alone icon_smile.gif

I changed the bridge to an IXYS 27A Hexfred and the power supply caps to 4) 10,000 ufd Nichicon Gold Tunes bypassed with Aeon and Multicaps.

The DC power supply wire is 12 awg teflon coated, tinned copper.

I changed the resistors on the IC board to Holcos and the caps to Nichicon Muse.

The input cable is a shielded twisted pair (BOLDER Type 2) and the speaker output cable is CC89259.

I changed the input RCA jack to a Cardas Rhodium plated one and the binding posts are now by Superior Electric.

The values I used for the feedback resistors and caps are from the SGS/Thompson application notes on the TDA7294 IC.

Here is a picture of part of the internals of the BOLDER modded Le Amp

Here is a shot of the internals of a fairly stock Le Amp:

I used this pair for rear channel amps in my HT system for awhile. Since I have been using the modded Panny receivers, the Le Amps have been sitting on a shelf.

It is time for them to move on.

The sides of one mono-block are a bit scraped up

The other mono block is missing a screw from ont side.
The front panels are in great shape

They are both fully functional and are playing as I write this. I have the original boxes.

SOLD!!!
