Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Just got back from a midnight showing of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

From the trailers I'd seen of it beforehand I figured it might be a decent action movie with a touch of occasional comedy. Looked like I'd at least be entertained.

So when I was asked if I wanted to catch it at midnight (for my usual ticket price of $0.00) I figured why not. Wasn't tired, and don't need to get up at any particular time tomorrow.

I'd have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The comedy was fairly consistent throughout. And it was comedy that fit an action movie quite well.

And the action was pretty good as well. Nothing that I'd say was terribly spectacular, but good none the less.

Pitt & Jolie went well together I thought. And while I have found Jolie (either appearance or performance wise) to be hit & miss (mostly miss) over the years, she was defintely good in this role. Her performance worked, and damn was she hot!

I'd certainly be up for seeing it again. And it will make it to my collection once it hits 5".

So if you thought the trailers looked decent or good, or if you're a fan of either Pitt or Jolie, I'd say it's worth catching.

I was going to see it just for A. J.  She's definitely on my top 5 hottie list !  If the movie is good too that is a bonus.

Just saw this last night.  Expectations were somewhat low because of a couple of bad reviews, but I found it surprisingly entertaining.  Not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination (so far this year, Batman Begins is the only one that gets my vote for "great")...but definitely funny and entertaining...

I thought the various interplay between characters was funny and entertaining enough - especially Vince Vaughn - but even within the logic of the plot setup it's not logical. For example, how can an SUV with two people in it continue on for ten minutes of actual screen time while being attacked by cars and motorcycles driven by bad guys with heavy weapons? The husband and wife team shoot a car with a pistol, and it blows up or somebody gets hit. The attackers shoot a million rounds and nobody gets hurt, even though the SUV itself is decimated. Then they suddenly loose all their guns, and must jump onto the SUV for some hand to hand.... And it's a lot of screen time, giving me ample opportunity to wonder why I am supposed to not be annoyed.

I understand a lot of this is comic book convention - you're expected to just accept the idiocy and illogic. But that's the problem. No internal logic. And users on yahoo give it only a fairly positive evaluation. Most critics wouldn't even go that far.

I saw the director on "Charlie Rose" last night, and was struck by his rather odd hair. He looks like a middle ages Squire. His other movies are better, I think.

I think this is known as the 'A-team effect'     The bad guys couldn't the hit the ground with their hats. ;)
