Updating an old 10B crossover
« on: 31 Jul 2005, 05:35 pm »
I sent this email on July 26 to Bryston service (  cdnser@bryston.ca ) but have yet to hear back from them.

**********************************

Bryston Service,

I own a very old 10B crossover s/n 100273 and on the back for the mode switch it has three options namely:

2 way stereo
3 way mono
2 way mono

The "newer" 10Bs according to the online manual have these three modes

2 way stereo
3 way mono
Stereo HP / Mono LP

I want to use one sub vs two (my current configuration) so is there a way to get my 10B cross over updated so that the Stereo HP / Mono LP mode is available?  If so what will the cost be?  I could personally drop off the 10B at your Etobicoke location.  I did this previously when I got my SP 1.7 updated.

Thanks

Eric Chong

In the past Bryston responded fairly quickly.  Usually I would be more patient but I'm leaving town and wanted to get this done sooner vs later.  Guess it will have to wait till I get back next week.  In the meantime, is this doable?

Hi Eric,

Is your 10B a 24dB per octave version?

James,

I am away from home on business right now.  But if I recall, it has a 3 position slider switch for 6 db, 12 db and 18 db slopes.

Hi Eric,

I will ask engineering on this one - I know the backboard would have to be changed.

thanks for looking into this James.  Seems like I'm not the only one working on this long holiday weekend.

Hi,

The 10B backboard and all the switches would have to be replaced.
Price around $250.

Thanks James, should I just print this thread and bring it along with the 10b to the service centre when I get back in town?

Just email me and let me know when you want to send it in.
We only have Canadian service in Peterborough now.
