So, this device is a little like the BDA 3 when it was in its early flush. All the details are there, bar the micro ones, just a little recessed. Given that it had an hour on it, the instrument separation is better than my previous transport, vertical sound stage is bigger and I've had a few "haven't heard that before" moments. Given that it delivered all of that within an hour of warming up, I suspect this TEAC will blossom into brilliant.
For reference, I use the very excellent Neotech NEVD SPDIF UPOCC silver cable to connect it to the BDA. I have yet to try it with the upsampling on the BDA and will report on that and overall progress in due course.
