The Sound Room is purchased
« on: 8 Sep 2025, 02:19 am »
The Sound Room has been purchased by Audio Advice a store in South Carolina.  From what I understand they will remain the Sound Room but have additional lines.  They have several so it will be interesting to see how many are represented in St. Louis.

AA shows online brands like Audio Research, Harman products (Levinson, JBL & Revel), Ayre, NAD and a host of others.

Not that it matters to the conversation, but Audio Advice is actually based in NC.  It’s been awhile since I’ve been there, but the Raleigh store became an object of my obsession for a time after experiencing my first “holy crap that sounds awesome” moment.  They’ve since expanded into internet sales and in my mind are on par with Crutchfield.  They also host an annual audio / HT show in Raleigh and somewhat recently began a collaboration with Gene DellaSala / Audioholics.
If the St Louis store is operated like what I remember of the Raleigh store you’ll have / continue to have experienced and knowledgeable staff with a good selection of stuff but it won’t be life changing - unless someone steps into their own holy crap moment.
Any changes in particular you’d like to see or are concerned might happen?

Ya, they started in Raleigh, NC. They have a place in Charlotte NC and
recently opened a place in Wilmington NC. I have visited Raleigh and bought
a few things and Charlotte when I was down that way. Have had a few WOW! moments
when visiting but haven't gone in quite a while. The older guys or I should say the guys
from the old days were great to talk with. Since I've built my system up to where I like
I just don't feel the need to search mass produced equipment.
I wish em luck in St Luee

I believe they sell Yamaha equipment. Yamaha makes possibly the best reciever on the market, the RN2000A. If they sell it, with the NS2000A or NS5000, they will have an extremely impressive setup for the money. The NS2000A speakers that me and Mr. Peabody heard at Axpona are just beautiful, very delicate and resolving, with great midrange and treble clarity. A good sub with them is definitely close to high end.
